Theresa May’s new best trading buddies in the US post Brexit, want us to drop regional food names in order that they can flood our market with their cheap crap without competition.
This means no more ‘Cornish’ pasties. No more ‘Cheddar’, or ‘Red Leicester’, cheeses. No more ‘Cumberland’ sausages, or ‘Scotch’ whiskey, or even ‘Devon’ cider once we leave the EU, which at the moment protects some of our named products, via a little known process known as Geographical Indicators.
How ironic it will be then that the Brexiteers, who hoped to regain the national identity that we never actually lost, have now contributed to the farcical situation that actually WILL take it all away.
