Let’s not conflate the right to an opinion with the validity and soundness of an opinion.
You have the right to hold an opinion. You have the right to express your opinion. You have the right to feel the way you do about your experience. No one can take that away from you.
But you also have the right to be wrong.
We should care more about what is correct or the most likely opinion. Everything else is not nearly as interesting.
We all need to get better at noticing the difference between a well-informed opinion and a bad one presented with excessive confidence, volume, and peppered with added and gratuitous bravado.
