“I don’t want to forget what it felt like when he died, because he deserves [that remembrance]. That’s how important he was to me,” Thornton says. “So, if I have to suffer and I have to be sad for the rest of my life, and if I have to be lonely without him… then that’s the way I honor him.” ……….That shouldn’t be the way to honor him. Remembering him forever is normal….I think we all do so. How can we forget our beloved ones after they passed away??…. Not even an option! …….but self destruction?…. I’m not sure 🙁
While I don’t agree with his sentiments, grieving is a uniquely personal thing and I dont think he is advocating that anyone “Do it his way” or his way is “right” he is simply explaining his grieving process, maybe it will change in later years? And simply feeling sad isn’t self destruction, just as destructive and being addicted to “positiveness” and refusing to see any negativity or the other half of life! 🙂
